The "Strong Start"
Teleclass Curriculum


Month 1 — Physical Preparation: Taking an Honest Inventory

Objectives:
Gain clarity about your current challenges, assets, and liabilities. Use the assessments and charts offered (The Strong Start Survey, list of assets and liabilities, gains and drains, and the self-care checklist) in order to develop a better understanding of your existing situation. Strengthen your capacity for positive expression regarding your practice. Learn to speak about what is going well in your work, with enthusiasm, by sharing success stories.

Month 2 — Mental Preparation: Honing Your Entrepreneurial Mindset

Objectives:
Become mentally resilient as you learn to think the way a successful entrepreneur thinks. First, use the Private Practice Success Program™ Assessment to identify your business acumen and point you in the direction of further business understanding. Then start to think through the common challenges and obstacles that surround the business of therapy and the business of coaching. Develop solutions to the obstacles so that you anticipate what to do to overcome normal problems that occur. Build on last month's inventory by developing your ideal client profile, to identify those clients you most want to attract. Create a business affirmation that will strengthen you mentally and eliminate negative, self-sabotaging beliefs.

Month 3 — Emotional Preparation: Building a Reserve of Support

Objectives:
You need strong, consistent professional support as you deal with the normal ups and downs of owning a business. Create a three-tiered professional support system, and use that system to help you think through your business challenges. Learn how to re-center yourself when business gets rough, so that your know how to soothe your own anxiety and stay calm and focused. Refine your skill of goal setting, so that your goals feel energizing, instead of draining. Explore and correct the source issues behind the symptomatic business problems that may occur. Bring together advisors to support you in achieving your goals, using a formal advisory board or an informal advisory circle.

Month 4 — Spiritual Preparation: Orienting Your Practice Around Values and Vision

Objectives:
Does your business have a soul? A business flourishes when the owner invests the business with integrity, core values, and vision. Examine your current practice for integrity breaks — signs that problems at the foundation of your business needs your immediate attention and then repair any integrity breaks you identify, immediately. Develop an aligned business vision based on your core values, your strengths and talents, and set into a predictable future; identify trends and learn to "trend up." Clarify your strengths and talents; prioritize your core values. Write a vision, purpose, and mission statement that elicits your passion. Become more purposeful, so that you make your vision a reality.

In addition, we will cover how to:

  • Articulate a basic message highlighting the best of what participants have to offer
  • Expand the reach of message by learning key strategies of public speaking
  • Remove all elements of promotional marketing and instead use marketing strategies of attraction
  • Identify the networking strategies that would be easier to use and follow
  • Other practice-building topics and issues to meet the needs of participants
